We have had a few customers ask us, which prop would be the best for their Yamaha motors. We let them know that the motor alone doesn't determine which prop is used: they have to consider the motor and boat, along with the  application. Knowing this, along with accurate information from them will help us determine what prop will work best. 

We also let them know that there is no set size prop for horse power. This enables us to introduce them to the ideal that there is a larger selection of prop styles and sizes tha  can work with their motors. Along with looking at the prop style and size, we look at the boat hull design and weight. Also what kind  of load and use typically the customer will have helps to determine the style and size prop. A motor will provide maximum performance, efficiency along with durability if it reaches the upper end of the specified rpm:6000 rpm for most four strokes models and 5500 for most two strokes models, when running wide open throttle with a customers typical load and is properly trimmed. We discuss the over and under propping of an appication, how it not only affects the performance but the reliability and durability of the motor   

Some times getting accrate information from the customer se we can get the right prop for the appication is difficult. We need to know what condition the boat hull is in, what size prop they haveon now , and how they operate the boat.Having accurate information from the customer will help us recommend the best prop for the customer's need.

Professional marine technicians would be the best person to help a customer find the right prop for their application. Their knowledge and experience knowing the local conditions, like altitude, and seasonal temperatures along ithe the humidity variations is important to determining the best prop. Water-testing a customer's boat, seeing how well the prop they have on it at the present is working; will help us recommend a better and more effivient prop for them. This will help our customers maximize their enjoyment with their Yamaha pwoered boat. We are able to turn a boat with poor perforance into the boat they should have had, and this gives us returing customers, along with generating the parts and accessories within the dealership.
